Just keep swimming, Just keep swimming.......

Well, Tuesday was Coby's very 1st swim lesson. He cried for 45 minutes! I am NOT kidding! Cory and I kept thinking "he has to stop crying soon and start playing in the water." NOPE! He didn't! Cried and cried and cried some more. So when we got home Tuesday night, we decided to "practice" what they learned in swim lessons in the bathtub. Yes, we did!
Before we left the swim school, we went ahead and bought Coby a pair of swim goggles, thinking that might help him with putting his face in the water, etc.
In the bathtub he did AWESOME! Of course the kicking was perfect! But he put the goggles on, and blew bubbles in the water, he did EVERYTHING the other kids did at swim lesson, that he chose NOT to participate in.
So, Wednesday night with LOT'S of encouragement from Cory and I, we went BACK to swim lessons. Coby did not cry when i had to leave to go to the parent observation room. He got in the water with all the other kids. He did exactly what his teacher told him to do. He kicked, he blew bubbles, he swam with his teacher, he even went COMPLETELY underwater, head and all (of course with his goggles.) He was a TOTALLY different child! I was SO proud of him! And yes, it did bring tears to my eyes.

More pictures to come soon of the NEW Coby at swim lessons.........

  2. How awesome. I am thinking of putting my 3 and 4 year old in swimming lessons this year. They love the water, but I'm not expecting miracles. Good idea on bathtub practice. I will definately have to keep that one in mind.

  3. Oh no! This is what I would be afraid of! I am *thisclose* to signing my toddler up for lessons but am scared of traumatizing him. LOL
